Napoleon’s World

This website is dedicated to Napoleon’s World, the story of the ex-emperor’s exile and death on the island of St Helena between 1815 and 1821.

How a famous British regiment HM 66th Foot (Berkshire) guarded Napoleon on St Helena after 5 years hard fighting on the Spanish Peninsula under the Duke of Wellington’s command.

The fact that the British Navy defeated the combined French and Spanish fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1858 is what gave the Navy its superiority.

The story of the Royal Ordnance Depot at Weeden Bec from which stores were shipped to British forces across four continents.

How 150 years later, a great Armada sailed from Englands shores to defeat another dictator and liberated Europe is the story of one man’s journey into the Battle of Normandy in 1944.

“The French simply had nothing like it”.
